Here's a list of Holy Week services, announced by the Salt Lake Catholic Diocese.

Thursday, April 5 - Chrism Mass, 7 p.m., Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple. Holy oils for use throughout the diocese will be blessed, and diocese clergy will renew their ministerial commitment.Palm Sunday, April 8 - Last Sunday of Lent. Depicts Jesus' entry into Jerusalem before his crucifixion. 11 a.m., Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple. Out-of-door procession before 11 a.m. Mass.

Thursday, April 12 - Jesus' last supper with apostles is commemorated. Twelve individuals will have their feet washed to represent the Savior's washing of his apostles' feet. Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2840 S. 9000 West, Magna, 7 p.m.; and Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple; St. Vincent De Paul Church, 3375 E. Spring Lane; and St. Catherine Siena, Newman Center, 1327 E. 200 South, all at 7:30 p.m.

Good Friday, April 13 - Three-hour service at noon to remember Christ's death. Cathedral of the Madeleine. Other services at the cathedral: Meditation on the Passion of Jesus, Veneration of the Cross and Communion Service, 1:15 to 3 p.m.

Evening Services, Good Friday, April 13 - St. Vincent De Paul, 1375 E. Spring Lane, 7:30 p.m.; St. Catherine of Siena, Newman Center, 1327 E. 200 South, 5:15 p.m.; Communion Services, 7:30 p.m. at St. Catherine's; and St. Martin De Porres Church, 4914 S. 2200 West, 7 p.m.

Good Friday Downtown Procession from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral - 6:30 p.m. Song and prayer at churches: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Central Christian Church, First United Methodist, St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, Cathedral of the Madeleine with a concluding service at First Presbyterian Church.

Easter Vigil Services - Includes the blessing of a new fire (outside the church). In total darkness the "new light" from the fire is used to light a large new candle, symbolic of Christ, the "light of the world" coming into darkness and bringing light. Baptism of new church members will take place to symbolize the new life of the risen Christ. Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 7 p.m.; St. Vincent De Paul Church, 1375 E.
