SHARE FINLAND TO HOST FESTIVAL OF PERFORMING ARTS IN JUNE

An international array of musicians, dancers, singers and other performing artists will converge in Joensuu, Finland, for a midsummer festival.

"A Meeting of the Worlds" is being organized by PAND International (Performers and Artists for Nuclear Disarmament), a peace group founded by Harry Belafonte.Among the groups and performers who will be featured at the festival are the Cleveland Orchestra, the Leningrad Philharmonic, the Japanese drum group Eitetsu Hayashi, the Sakhile Group from South Africa and the Raatikko Dance Theatre of Finland.

There will also be rock and jazz concerts, an all-African night and an evening of tangos.

Proceeds from the festival, June 19-23, will be donated to UNICEF.
