Velda Allphin Neilson passed away March 6, 1990 at her home in Bennion.

Born August 30, 1909 in Lovell, Wyoming, daughter of Reuben Lister Allphin and Ella Elvina Asay. Married E. Owen Neilson June 24, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. Devoted member of the LDS Church, giving a lifetime of service as she shared her testimony with others. Served Northern States Mission. Elementary school teacher. She developed many talents in singing, drama, poetry, reading, dancing, handwork. She was known for her good homemade bread, and welcomed all to her home.Survived by two sons and four daughters, Paul, Mrs. David (Kay) Johnson, Mrs. Duane (Carol) Slaughter, Van and wife Nancy, Mrs. Donald (Dawna) Kenworthy, Mrs. Mike (Laurie) Vertner; 18 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother and three sisters, Alva Allphin, Anna Chatterton, June Dickey, Ella Mae Hatch. Preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 1990, 12 noon, Bennion Heights 1st Ward, 3555 West 5620 South. Friends may call Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday, at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
