Salt Lake-based Research Industries Corp. has signed an agreement to open a new facility next year which will more than double its local production facilities for medical devices from 20,000 to 42,000 square feet.
The new building will enable the company to consolidate its two current Salt Lake operating facilities at one site, said Gary L. Crocker, president. Combined with the firm's existing pharmaceutical plant in southern California, the new hospital disposables manufacturing site will result in total corporate operating facilites of 85,000 square feet."This new facility is necessary to meet the rapidly increasing demand for the company's cardiovascular surgical products, which is expected to continue with the upcoming introduction of several heart cooling catheters and related products which have been recently approved by the FDA," said Crocker.
He said the company recently added a second production shift to satisfy increased orders.
Research will move into the new facility early next year under a lease agreement with a purchase option.
