The Salt Lake Sting soccer team captured its second win in as many nights with a 2-1 overtime shootout victory over the Arizona Condors.

The win puts the Sting at the top of the American Professional Soccer League West standings in the young season with a 2-0 mark.After the Condors tied the score in the final seconds of regulation, the two teams went to overtime, but neither club scored in the two 10-minute periods.

Then in the shootout, where the two teams select five shooters and alternate kicks, the Sting made all five tries while Arizona converted on just three. Salt Lake's Joe Silveira made the clinching goal.

The Sting got off to a fast start as Derek Sanderson capitalized on an Arizona defensive mistake and punched in the goal at the 16:51 mark of the first half.

Then with less than five seconds left in the game, the Condors were awarded a penalty kick and Paul Lee converted to tie the game at 1-1.

Late in the overtime, Arizona's John Stolemeyer broke free and was one-on-one with Sting goalkeeper Paul Parkinson, but his shot hit the goalpost.

The Sting will now prepare for their home opener Saturday against the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks. That game will begin at 5 p.m. at Derks Field. Arizona will play in Salt Lake on June 1.
