Leonard G. Florence, 83, died Monday, April 16, 1990 at his home in Porterville of natural causes.

Born February 16, 1907 in Porterville, Morgan County, youngest son of Samuel Stephens and Minnie Giles Florence. Married Emeline S. Hendricks October 1, 1934 in Fielding, Utah; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple March 17, 1957. Active High Priest in the LDS Church, home teacher, and supervisor of home teachers. A Porterville resident all his life. He worked as a dairy farmer and on the UP RR. He worked on the Natural Gas Pipeline and the Echo Dam. After retiring, he worked for 15 years at the Round Valley Golf Course and part time for Wardell Mink Ranch. He served many years as Water Master for the Porterville Ditch System. He played baseball and participated in the Horse Pulling Contest at the Morgan County Fair for many years. He won various prizes including a set of harnesses and a special award for best team driver.

Survived by wife, Porterville; two sons, Larry G. Florence, North Ogden; Samuel Florence, Milford; two daughter, Kathryn F. Stain, Ogden; Mrs. Gary (Lana) Chadburn, Minersville; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services Friday, 11 a.m., Morgan 6th Ward Chapel, Morgan Valley Drive in Porterville. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Friday, at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
