Mary Alice Williams was named Friday as the permanent co-anchor of NBC's "Sunday Today" show, succeeding Maria Shriver, who left the show two weeks ago to spend more time with her family in Los Angeles. NBC's announcement had been expected. But negotiations continued with NBC News for Williams also to be named anchor on the network's Sunday night newscast, said NBC sources who spoke on condition of anonymity. Shriver, who had co-anchored the show since it began in 1987, is married to actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
