Jim Campbell, who resigned April 11 as president of the Utah Education Association, was reported in satisfactory condition Tuesday in Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Hospital personnel would not comment on what brought Campbell to the medical facility.Campbell quit his UEA post before the end of his term in July in the aftermath of a tempestuous legislative session. His role as negotiator for teachers during the session was criticized by those who were dissatisfied with the outcome. He also was at odds with the UEA board of directors.

The UEA announced Saturday that it is conducting an audit of his accounts. Campbell also has asked a personal friend who is an accountant to audit the accounts to "avoid any accusations."
