A Midvale woman facing life in prison on a rape charge pleaded guilty to a reduced felony charge Tuesday in 2nd District Court and will be sentenced May 22.

Irene Wallick, 30, pleaded guilty to a single charge of unlawful sexual intercourse, a third-degree felony that carries a prison term of zero to five years. She was originally charged with rape, a first-degree felony that carries a five-year-to-life prison term, and three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. The incidents occurred between August and November of last year, according to court records, and involved a Clearfield boy under 16.

Judge Rodney S. Page agreed to the plea bargain negotiated by Wallick's attorney, Steve Vanderlinden, with the Davis County attorney's office. The rape charge and two of the three unlawful sexual intercourse counts were dismissed in return for her guilty plea to the single felony charge.
