SHARE 4 S.L. PUPILS WIN AWARDS IN READING CONTEST

Four Salt Lake elementary students are the winners of the annual Reading Is Fundamental "In Celebration of Reading Contest" sponsored by the Friends of the Salt Lake City Public Library.

Tuesday night Mayor Palmer DePaulis presented the awards to Andrea Bailey, a fifth-grader at Edison Elementary; Amanda Oviatt, a third-grader at Jackson Elementary; Jamie Osborne, a sixth-grader at Franklin Elementary; and Roy Blair, a first-grader at Guadalupe Elementary.Wanda McDonough, a volunteer at the city library for 15 years, was also honored as the "RIF Volunteer of the Year."

Each year students in Salt Lake RIF schools participate in the reading contest. Children agree to read or are read to for a specified period of time each week for two weeks. The names of the children who successfully complete the project are then entered in a random drawing to represent their school.
