Marie Hedwig Koehler Koenig, age 90, returned home to her Heavenly Father April 3, 1990. She died peacefully of causes incident to age.
Born January 9, 1900 in Fraustadt, Posen, East Prussia, Germany the daughter of Otto Hermann and Emma Marie Bertha Werner Koehler. Married Willi Goerg Koenig on May 6, 1922 in Guben, Lausitz, Germany; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. With him she emigrated to Salt Lake City in 1956. Her husband preceded her in death in 1979. Member of the LDS Church. Baptized with her husband on April 6, 1930 in the Lubst River in eastern Germany. Active in the LDS Church all her life, she served as a Primary president, district missionary, and teacher in the Sunday School and other organizations. She loved missionary work. An excellent singer, she loved music.
Survived by two sons, Hermann Willi Heinz Koenig and his wife Irmgard; Georg Hans Werner Koenig and his wife Christa; as well as 11 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grete Schuhmann and Else Koeppert both in Germany.
Funeral services in the LDS German-Speaking Ward at 630 East 100 South at 12 noon on Saturday, April 7th. Viewing will be Friday evening 6-8 pm at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and at the Ward on Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
