A Salt Lake firefighter throws rubbish out a window of the vacant Kress Building, 255 S. Main, after fire broke out Friday at 4:30 p.m. The fire produced a lot of smoke but not much damage. Battalion Chief Gary Maxfield said there were several different fires inside the building, leading officials to believe arson was involved. "All indications are it was purposely set, but we have to wait for an investigation," Maxfield said. He added they have had problems previously with transients in the building. The blaze was brought under control within 10 minutes. There were no injuries.
