William Frederick Terry, Jr. age 71, husband of Janice Smith Terry, died April 7, 1990. Born January 18, 1919 in Fall River, Massachusetts to William and Sara Walker Terry. Married Anice Smith on January 1, 1942 in Fall River, Mass. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving for three years. For 17 years he managed stores for F. W. Woolworth Co. in Revere, Mass.; Caribou, Maine; Waterville, Maine and Salem, Mass. He then opened a Department Store in Wilton, Maine. While in business he was active in Lion's Clubs and Chamber of Commerce. He was active in Explorer Scouting and President of Men's Club in Danvers, Mass. While in Wilton, Maine he was founder and treasurer of Scholarship Foundation for Wilton Academy and served as chairman of the Wilton Health Committee. At this time he was helpful in securing a hospital for the area. For this effort the Chamber of Commerce presented a plaque in is honor to hang in the new hospital and awarded him "The Man Of The Year Award." He was a member of "The Fairbanks Family of America" and the Mayflower Association. He loved golf and restoring antique cars. While in Salt Lake he was a realtor. He has been a longtime volunteer at Cottonwood Hospital.
Besides his widow he leaves one son, William F. Terry, III, Portugual; Mrs. Lee Talbot (Nancy), Salt Lake City and Mrs. Mitchell Pratt (Cynthia), Provo and four grandchildren, Tricia Talbot, William Talbot, Jonathan Talbot, and Tiffany Taylor. One sister, Sally Geary, Massachusetts.A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 12 noon, April 10, 1990, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call on Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. His cremains will be taken to his beloved New England.
