Shakespearean Festivals are not found only in Cedar City. Sixth-graders at Northridge Elementary School in Orem have their own tradition of Shakespearean studies.

More than 120 children will participate in the school's Shakespearean festival, in its third year. This year's production includes "Macbeth," directed by Dorothy Foster, and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," directed by Bonnie Cook, a sixth-grade teacher. The plays are the culmination of four months of studies for the students. Playing the part of Shakespeare, sixth-grader John Stewart said, "We learned more about Shakespeare and his plays by acting them out."

Jennifer Seegmiller, another sixth-grader, said, "It's a lot of fun dressing up, wearing makeup and acting."

For Chris Chestnut, he's happy to say, "I can actually read Shakespeare."

The public is invited to join the festival on Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m.
