President Bush dunked, cycled, volleyed and chipped his way around the White House lawn Tuesday to kick off National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.

The president, joined by his fitness czar, actor and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, hosted the "Great American Workout" with a bevy of sports and entertainment celebrities who demonstrated their specialties at sports stations set up on the South Lawn. Bush encouraged all Americans to get in shape, saying, "Today we're declaring war on couch potatoes."Bush, clad in open-necked shirt and blazer, pedaled a Life Cycle, shot a basket and missed, dunked one and made it when the basket was lowered to just above his head, and practiced golf chip shots. He also tossed a few horseshoes and hit tennis balls with Pam Shriver.

Schwarzenegger said that "fitness is fun and fitness is for everyone." Taking off on Bush's campaign line "Read my lips . . . ," Schwarzenegger said: "Read my hips, no more flab."
