A Utah man involved in a fatal car accident Friday has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter.

Kevin R. Konold, 25, appeared before Magistrate Judge Michael J. Griffin Monday and a preliminary hearing was set for May 23.Konold posted $500 bail, reduced from an original bail of $5,000 and was released from custody.

Konold was charged in connection with the death of Mike Wilson, 42, of Meridian. Wilson died after his vehicle was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Konold. Wilson was a Boise City police officer.

According to court documents filed at the Idaho County Courthouse at Grangeville, Konold's vehicle crossed the center line of U.S. 95 about one mile north of Fenn and collided with Wilson's vehicle.

Wilson's wife and two children were with him in the vehicle but survived the accident.
