SHARE MERIT MEDICAL REPORTS $89,363 NET LOSS

Merit Medical Systems Inc., 79 W. 4500 South, reports a net loss of $89,363 or three cents per share for the quarter ending March 31, compared to a net loss of $64,533 or three cents per share for the same quarter a year ago.

Fred P. Lampropoulos, president and chairman of the board, said the loss was due to roll-out costs of the IntelliSystem along with additional marketing and administrative expenses in preparation for anticipated sales growth. Also, the company is preparing office and manufacturing space to handle the increased demand for products.Lampropoulos said sales in the first quarter of 1990 were $600,636, a 110 percent increase over the $286,685 in the first quarter of 1989. The sales increase can be attributed to increased sales of the Merit CCS Control Syringe Group and the IntelliSystem.
