Malissa Mae Shepherd Fakler Paulson VanZomeren, age 45, died May 1, 1990 at her home in Orem, Utah from cancer.

She was born August 14, 1944 at Bell, California the daughter of Clarence and Alta Mae Warner Shepherd. She married George Fakler, later divorced. She married Douglas Paulson, later divorced. She married Richard VanZomeren, October 11, 1973 at Las Vegas, Nevada; marriage solemnized in 1976 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was raised in Benjamin and Spanish Fork, Utah and attended schools there. She graduated from Vancouver School of Beauty and was a beautician for 29 years. She and her husband, Richard, raised five of their nine children.Survived by husband, Orem, Utah; three sons, two daughters, Bryan Fakler, Vancouver, Washington; Mrs. Dane (Brenda) Anderson, Springville, Utah; Jason VanZomeren, Chicago, Illinois; Tammy Paulson, Provo; Jamie VanZomeren, Orem; step-daughters, Mrs. Rex (Loretta) Harris, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Mrs. Jose (Deborah) Gran, Edwards, Colorado; Mrs. Ernie (Monica) Valdez, Salt Lake City; step-son, Richard Kent VanZomeren, II, Minturn, Colorado; mother and step-father, Mae and Verl Timmins, Orem; one brother, two sisters, Mrs. Carma Moser, Orem; Mrs. Lloyd (Alta) LeFevre, Spring Lake, Utah; Ned Shepherd, Springville; preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services Friday, 11 a.m., Sunset Heights 2nd LDS Ward. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, Orem, Utah, Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. and at the Ward chapel, 1100 West 600 South, Orem, Utah one hour prior to services. Interment: Orem City Cemetery under the direction of Huff Linde Funeral Home, Spanish Fork, Utah.
