Two emergency response teams from the Utah County Sheriff's Department were negotiating a surrender Saturday at 11 p.m. with a man who held his wife hostage at gunpoint in their home for several hours.

The sheriff's department was called to the residence, in the area of 700 E. and 300 South, about 8:31 p.m. The wife was able to get out of the home and was not injured, according to a county dispatcher.The dispatcher said the sheriff's department was contacted by the wife's sister, who was calling from another location.
