An Ada County grand jury has handed up a seven-count indictment charging a Boise man of deliberately exposing sex partners to the deadly AIDS virus.

Kerry Stephen Thomas, a former college basketball player who denies any wrongdoing, was also indicted Wednesday on two counts of statutory rape involving one of the alleged AIDS-exposure victims. The seven-count grand jury indictment, handed down Wednesday afternoon, supersedes a criminal complaint filed last month that accused Thomas, 25, of a single exposure count.

The new charges accuse Thomas of having sexual intercourse with five women between July 1989 and February 1990, despite knowing he had tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
