A man injured in an accident Thursday has been upgraded from critical to fair condition, a hospital nursing supervisor said Friday.
Robert Arnold, 19, 3852 Country Squire Drive in West Jordan, was injured when his car was hit broadside.Arnold's car entered the intersection at 4000 West and 9000 South, traveling north on 4000 West, and collided with a vehicle traveling east on 9000 South.
It took nearly 15 minutes to extricate Arnold and a teenage passenger from his car, which had spun into a ditch that runs parallel to 9000 South. Arnold, his passenger and the female driver of the other vehicle were taken to Holy Cross Jordan Valley Hospital. The other two victims, whose names were not released, were treated and released from the hospital. Arnold was later transported to LDS Hospital.
West Jordan police said the intersection is a bad corner where serious accidents happen each month. Officer John Matthies said people often do not see the stop sign on the corner.
