Twelve Salt Lake County high school students have been honored for their outstanding efforts in the Sheriff Assisting Youth program and law enforcement classes.

Resource deputies chose 12 students out of 720 enrolled in the S.A.Y. program that best demonstrated academic and citizenship excellence during the course of the school year.In addition to the S.A.Y. honors, Wendy Ann Kochevar of Hillcrest High, Justin Chesnik of Bingham High and William S. Searle of Granite High also received one-year tuition scholarships to Southern Utah State College, valued at $1,040.

The other students honored include: Jaime Prater, Cottonwood High; J. Patrick Lennberg, Skyline High; Jason Jackman, Taylorsville High; Chad Steven William Harris, Kearns High; Karyn Lynn Boyack, Jordan High; Chris K. Lindquist, Alta High; Andrew Eberhardt, Olympus High; Derrick Goodwin, Brighton High; and Robert M. Peterson, Cyprus High.
