The new Hale Center Theater/Orem, 400 N. Orem Blvd. (225 West), will open this week with a retitled production that was one of the current season's biggest hits just recently at the Hales' theater in South Salt Lake.
Written by Ruth and Nathan Hale, the theater's founders, the show was first presented at the family's tiny summer theater in Wayne County a year ago. Then it was titled simply "The Burr Trail."By the time it had been fine-tuned for a full stage production in Salt Lake City, it was changed to "Rough Road Ahead." But the Hales feel that "Burr Under My Saddle" works both the Burr Trail and the comedy aspects into the title.
The new theater, formerly a reception center, seats 290 (compared to 350 for the Hales' theater in South Salt Lake). The theater-style seats came from a church in Richfield that was being renovated.
The show will play on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. from May 25 through June 25. Call 226-8600 for reservations. In addition to regular single tickets, there will be a special $15 family package on Monday nights.
