Wayne County commissioners have appointed citizens in each community to help property owners identify which weeds must be controlled.
Property owners are required by law to prevent the spread of seeds, controlling them by pasturing, cutting, treating with chemicals or other effective methods, commissioners said. The object is to prevent blooming, maturing seeds or expanding roots.Commissioners said enforced control measures may be imposed by the county and citizens held responsible for the costs if weeds are not properly controlled on their properties.
