Dr. Suzanne Dandoy, executive director of the Utah Department of Health, has taken office as president of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

The association represents the directors of public health in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories. Its purpose is to formulate and influence the establishment of sound national public-health policy and to assist state health departments in developing programs."I am particularly interested in addressing issues surrounding the implementation of the National Health Objectives for the Year 2000," said Dandoy of her plans for the year she will head the association. I would also like to see the states become more involved in the effort to help more Americans gain access to health care."

At a national conference in September to launch the National Health Objectives for the Year 2000 campaign, Dandoy will share the podium with keynote speaker President George Bush.
