Sharon Gless, who played a cop in the long-running "Cagney & Lacey" series, will star in a new one-hour dramatic series for CBS beginning next fall.

Tentatively titled "Renewal," Gless will play a newly divorced woman in her 40s who re-enters the job market.The new show will be produced by Barney Rosenzweig, who produced "Cagney & Lacey." Says Rosenzweig, "We look forward to bringing the same level of quality to CBS that was our hallmark for six seasons on `Cagney & Lacey.' "
