A Salt Lake man was shot early Friday morning as he was walking near 400 South and 900 West. He was the fourth person to be shot in Salt Lake City in the last week.

Bong Thanh Nguyen, 24, told Salt Lake police that he had gone outside for a walk about 1 a.m. when he was approached by an unknown male who shot him once in the stomach for no reason.Nguyen said he then went to a friend's house at 326 S. 1065 West and knocked on the door. When the oc-cupants answered the door, Nguyen was lying on the ground. They rushed him to LDS Hospital, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Friday.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Marty Vuyk said there was no indication of gang involvement on the victim's part, but police are still investigating the incident.

"It's one of those situations that's very suspicious to us," he said. "We want to get to the bottom of it."
