Amid a mixture of memories, music, family and friends, 305 members of the class of 1990 graduated Thursday at Spanish Fork High School.

After a welcome address by Senior Class President Blair Keck, student speakers explored the graduation theme "Building Yesterday's Dreams Into Today's Realities."Audra Orton asked her fellow classmates to examine their lives. "We need to know both victory and defeat," Orton said. "We need to dream about our future, set goals and become the best that we can be. We can do it, we can accomplish our goals and become what we want to. When you think you can, you can. When you think you can't, you won't."

Kyley Jex reminded graduates that they are the leaders of tomorrow. "Tomorrow we scale another mountain," Jex said. "Now we hope to possess courage enough to make work a pleasure; wealth enough to support our needs; character enough to make moral decisions; strength enough to overcome life's battles; patience enough to recognize good; love enough to serve others and hope enough to overcome fears."

Janelle Griffiths reminded fellow class members of their accomplishments. "This is a dynamic class, well rounded in our attributes and achievements," Griffiths said. "Beside being recognized statewide and nationwide, this class leads any other in intelligence and scholastic achievement. There are 46 students in our class on the high honor roll, an unusually high number. Scholarship committees have been impressed with the caliber of students applying for scholarships this year. And, the amount of scholarship money awarded this year was in excess of $200,000."

Daniel Olsen admonished fellow classmates to dream. "Some people think it is foolish to dream," Olsen said. "But each of us needs to have aspirations. And even if these aspirations are not realized, in the long run we will have stretched and grown and become better than if we had not reached at all."
