A fellow prisoner tried to kill Mohammed Ali Hamadi, a convicted Lebanese Shiite extremist serving time in a German prison for hijacking a 1985 TWA flight to Beirut, a Lebanese magazine said Friday.

Ash Shiraa, the magazine that broke the U.S. arms-for-hostages story, said the attack occurred early this month and Hamadi escaped with a minor injury.Ash Shiraa said in an article to be published Saturday and written by the magazine's editor-in-chief, Hassan Sabra, that an Israeli inmate convicted on drugs and sex-abuse charges tried to stab Hamadi in the neck with a dagger.

Hamadi resisted and was cut on the arm, the magazine said.
