Papal Nuncio Pablo Puente announced a five-point agreement Saturday, approved by Christian rivals, to end nearly four months of fighting in Beirut's Christian enclave but said the agreement was only a partial solution.

Police meanwhile said clashes resumed between the pro-Syrian Amal militia and Iranian-backed Hezbollah or Party of God in Moslem west Beirut, leaving at least two civilians wounded, among them a child.Police said gunmen of both militias exchanged fire Saturday afternoon in four neighborhoods in west Beirut, spreading panic among residents.
