A former Boulder postal employee, Kim Ruth Nelson, will be sentenced in Federal District Court in Salt Lake City June 25 on two misdemeanor charges of opening mail that was not addressed to her.

She pleaded guilty to the charges following an investigation by postal inspectors. Complaints were also received by postal patrons in Boulder.Nelson was employed at the post office while her husband, Mark Nelson, held a contract for postal service in the small, rural community. The contract was not renewed and the facility was closed Feb. 13, 1990. The service is now at another location.

Maximum sentence for each offense is one year in prison, a $2,000 fine, and a mandatory victim restitution assessment of $50.
