A free Summer Basketball Skill Development Clinic featuring University of Utah basketball coach Rick Majerus and Scott Skiles of the Orlando Magic will be held Friday in the Huntsman Center. The clinic is open to all youths from 4th through 11th grades. Clinic registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with the clinic running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A coaches clinic, open to all interested coaches, will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The clinic is co-sponsored by Avia, Gart Brothers and the University of Utah.Joining Majerus and Skiles in the clinic will be the rest of the Ute basketball staff and former Ute players Tommy Connor, Keith Chapman and Jon Hansen. Connor was the Utes' MVP this season while Chapman and Hansen were two of the top defensive players in the Western Athletic Conference.

Skiles, who will also talk to the group about attitude and drug awareness, was an All-America selection at Michigan State. He has spent four years in the NBA with Milwaukee and Indiana as well as the Magic. He was named Orlando's Most Valuable Player in fan voting this season. The Majerus-Skiles relationship dates to Majerus' days as a Milwaukee assistant to Coach Don Nelson. Skiles is expected to show the clinic registrants the drills he uses while working out in the offseason.

Persons registering for the clinic will receive a free sports water bottle. They will also be eligible for numerous prizes that will be given away including shoes, shirts and tickets to Runnin' Ute basketball games.
