Agnes Virginia Picht, age 87, died May 26, 1990 of complications following a stroke.

Born November 27, 1902 in Pingree, North Dakota to John and Josephine Johnson Hendrickson. She married Dr. Clyde W. Picht June 14, 1924 in Denver, Colorado. He died June 23, 1963.Mrs. Picht attended schools in North Dakota and Minnesota and received a teaching degree from Colorado State University. She taught elementary and secondary schools in Colorado and North Dakota.

She was employed during WW II as a Junior Engineering Draftsman with the Dept. of Agriculture Aerial Photo Lab in Salt Lake City. Until her retirement, she worked as executive secretary and paint department manager at Sugar House Awning and Paint Co.

She was an active volunteer worker for Community Mental Health Assoc. and was a host for many years to visiting foreign students. Her door was always open to anyone in need of lodging, meals, counseling, comfort, or encouragement. With the early interest in equality of rights for women, she attended a suffragette conference in a Stanley Steamer. More recently, she enjoyed and active participation in the Equal Rights Coalition of Utah, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and the American Civil Liberties Union. She was also a member of the Women's Conservation Council of Utah, Sugar House Business and Professional Women's Club, and Daughters of the Nile (Masonic). She was a charter member of the Salt Lake Chapter of Executive Secretaries, Inc., and a perennial activist in the Democratic Party, District #82. Her association with the First Unitarian Church and the Women's Alliance of the Unitarian Church spanned over 50 years.

Survivors include three sisters and one brother, all North Dakota; two daughters, Barbara Kleiner, Inchelium, Wash.; and Lois Dunne, Ann Arbor, Mich.; one son, Clyde Wendell Picht, Ft. Worth, Texas; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 2, 154 10 a.m., in the chapel of the First Unitarian Church, 569 South 13th East, Rev. Tom Goldsmith conducting. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Quinney Rehabilitation Institute, Holy Cross Hospital, 1050 East South Temple, SLC, Ut 84102, or o the organization or charity of your choice.
