The Middle East Center at the University of Utah will sponsor two free public lectures as a part of its Spring Seminars.

Edward J. Lazzerini, professor of history at the University of New Orleans, will talk about "Representations of the Orient: A Nineteenth Century Russo-Tatar Polemic" Thursday, May 10 at noon, in 15D Middle East Center.A husband-and-wife team, Norman and Yedida Stillman, professors of history and classical and near eastern studies, respectively, at the State University of New York at Binghamton, will speak on "Costume as Cultural Statement: The Aesthetics, Economics and Politics of Islamic Dress" Thursday, May 17 at 2:15 p.m. in 208 Stewart Building.
