Presbyterians hold communion in the Salt Palace's Acord Arena on Tuesday during the first day of the church's 202nd General Assembly. The annual assembly for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will continue until June 6. It is the first time the assembly has been held in Salt Lake City. About 4,000 laymen and clergy will attend meetings to discuss, deliberate and reach conclusions on numerous issues, including preliminary approval of the church's Brief Statement of Reformed Faith, and also elect a new moderator - the presiding officer of the General Assembly - for one year. Reports and studies will also be presented, one of which addresses the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s relationship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
