SkyWest Airlines, headquartered in St. George, will add service Friday to the Palmdale-Lancaster and Ridgecrest-Inyokern communities in Southern California, according to airline spokeswoman Kristan Norton.

The two airports will be served by non-stop flights from Los Angeles International Airport, Norton said. They both will be served by 18-passenger Metro turboprop aircraft.The Palmdale-Lancaster area is adjacent to Edwards Air Force Base, and the Ridgecrest-Inyokern area is straddled by the China Lake Naval Weapons Center.

SkyWest is a commuter airline serving 43 cities in Utah, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Wyoming. Also on June 1, it will resume summer service to West Yellowstone, Mont.
