Funeral services for James G. "Cozy" Cozakos, long-time proprietor of the Nibley Park Golf Course Cafe, are scheduled Friday, June 1, 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 East, Sandy.
Mr. Cozakos died May 27 of natural causes. He was 74.Mr. Cozakos operated the cafe for 39 years prior to his retirement. He was a native of Salt Lake City, born June 21, 1915, to George C. and Soteira P. Cozakos. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Mr. Cozakos married Lorene L. Hezog Nov. 6, 1948. She passed away in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and returned to Salt Lake in 1943 after receiving an honorable discharge.
Mr. Cozakos is survived by daughters Susan Cozakos, Salt Lake City, and Sylvia Cozakos, Kitty Hawk, N.C., and by sons, Gary R. Herzog, El Toro, Calif., and Spencer C. Herzog, Salt Lake City. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean Cozakos, Glendale, Calif.; Alex Cozakos, Belmont, Calif.; and Nick Cozakos, Salt Lake City. Surviving sisters are Olga Cozakos Kalantzes and Helen Cozakos Barkley, both of Salt Lake City.
Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 South, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
