Because of concerns about water quality and fires, campgrounds have been closed on forest lands near Bryce Canyon National Park and the Tropic Reservoir in Garfield County.
Camping won't be allowed between Ruby's Inn and Bryce Canyon National Park, said Carl Guillette, Power District ranger. A lack of sanitation facilities as well as a potential for fire danger in that area were cited as reasons. Also, camping facilities are available at the national park.Areas within a half mile of the Tropic Reservoir are closed to camping. Increased recreation use is causing problems because there are no sanitation facilities. Guillette said the closure is one of several actions designed to improve water quality in the East Fork of the Sevier River drainage and at the reservoir.
