Arlene Stevenson Thomas, age 63, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, died May 4, 1990 in a local hospital of a heart attack.
Born January 10, 1927 in Layton, Utah, to Jesse W. and Ellen Stevenson. She is the mother of Mrs. Ellery Bennett (LeAnne), Issaquah, Wash.; Mrs. Kevin Rigby (Jaclynne), Mrs. William Robbins (Paula), and Mrs. Brad Bennett (Joan), all of Kaysville, Utah. Born and raised in West Layton. She attended local schools, graduating from Davis High and later attended BYU. She lived for many years in Kennewick, Washington. Arlene loved music and taught piano for a number of years. She was an accomplished accompanist on the piano and organ, and served many years as organist in Kaysville and the Bountiful 13th Ward. For many years, she taught round dance and square dance in Ogden, Utah.She later married Lester L. Thomas, of Bountiful, Utah. Both took early retirement from HAFB, to enjoy their family and traveling. They spent many months traveling together and sharing each others love. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Bountiful 13th Ward. Served as ward organist for several years. She taught and served in various other auxiliaries of the church. She was a kind and gracious woman, who would do anything for anyone. Most of her time was filled up by doing things for her husband and family. She looked forward to Thursdays, to be with her mother.
She is survived by her husband, Lester L. Thomas, her daughters, her mother, Ellen B. Nielsen, and step-father, Floyd Nielsen, of Layton, Utah; brother, Sharm Stevenson, of Kaysville; and Sally Weaver, of Layton; Sterling Stevenson, London, England; step-sons, Brent (Joy) Thomas, Kaysville; Bart Thomas, of Las Vegas, Nevada; step-daughter, Cheri (Mike) Ericksen, of Farmington; 27 grandchildren, all of which love and will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by father, Jesse W. Stevenson, brother, Brent Stevenson, and son, Kurt.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 1990, 11 a.m., at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel, 1356 North 650 East. Friends may call Monday, May 7, 1990 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday at the church 9:45-10:45. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
