SHARE WOMEN’S GROUP HONORS MAGAZINE AND ITS FOUNDER

Network Magazine and its founder, Karen Shepherd, each have received an "Outstanding Communicator Award" from the Utah Chapter of Women in Communications Inc.

Chapter officials said they presented the award to the magazine for its high-quality reporting of issues affecting women in the workplace. The award was accepted by Lynn Tempest, magazine editor since 1988.The award to Shepherd, who is director of development and communication relations for the Graduate School of Business and the College of Business at the University of Utah, for her dedication to addressing women's issues in Utah.

Shepherd started the magazine in 1977 and was published by Webster Publishing until December 1988 when Shepherd and other stockholders sold it to Peter Bernhard of Diversified Suburban Newspapers, which currently publishes it.
