Kirk Jowers and Janice Ugaki, both students at the University of Utah, have been awarded Harry S. Truman Memorial Scholarships. The scholarship pays $7,000 per year for four years of study, including two years of graduate school.
Jowers is a political science major minoring in languages. He has served three internships: with the Salt Lake County Administrative Services Department, with the State of Utah Department of Community and Economic Development, and in the Washington, D.C., office of Rep. Jim Hansen.Ugaki, from Blackfoot, Idaho, is an "A" student. She has served two internships, one with the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.
