Maud Leone Openshaw Jacobs, age 86, passed away May 5, 1990, at her home in Salt Lake City.

Born November 4, 1903, in Kaysville, Utah, to Joseph and Elizabeth Raymond Openshaw. She received her education at Davis High School and attended the U of U. Married Joseph Jacobs on August 30, 1923, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1972. Her life was devoted to service in the church in many capacities. In 1937 she and her husband presided over the Palestine-Syrian Mission in Beirut, Lebanon. In May, 1945, she was called to be a member of the General Board of the Relief Society where she served for almost 11 years. She was an officer of the Women's State Legislative Council of Utah for 5 years, serving the last year as President; she was active in the Utah Safety Council, DUP, and the National League of Pen Women.Survived by a son, Lamont Jacobs of Kaysville, and a daughter, Geri Barker of Murray. 7 Grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also by a sister, Mrs. Gladys McFarlane Hilton of Salt Lake. Preceded in death by one grandson.

Funeral services Thursday, May 10, 12 Noon, in the Salt Lake 18th Ward Chapel, 2nd Avenue and A Street. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Wednesday 6 to 8 PM and Thursday one hour prior at the ward. Interment in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
