A Layton bicyclist struck by a car Tuesday morning remains in critical but stable condition with head injuries at University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Police reported Calvin Dixon, 27, was struck when he apparently swerved in front of a car about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The accident occurred in front of the La Quinta Motor Inn, 1965 N. 1200 West, police said.Police reported Dixon was bicycling northbound on 1200 West, the I-15 frontage road, when he swerved into the middle of the street while going around a curve.

The driver of the northbound car was going about 25 mph and tried to avoid hitting Dixon, according to police, but collided with him. Dixon was transported to the hospital by air ambulance with head injuries.

No citation was issued and Layton police did not release the name of the driver.
