The Utah Museum of Natural History is offering a series of June workshops to teachers on topics ranging from museum use to archaeology. The courses have been approved for recertification and lane-change credit and may also be taken for University of Utah credit.
Workshops scheduled include:-"Museum resources," from June 11-12, a survey of the 11 local museums that provide exhibits, outreach programs and teaching kits.
-"Fun with Elementary Science," from June 18-21, will cover creative ways to demonstrate scientific concepts for fourth- through sixth-graders.
-"Rock Art Documentation Field School," from June 23-25, will allow participants to map, photograph and draw ancient petroglyphs in a canyon near Vernal under the direction of rock art expert Sally Cole.
-"Multicultural Art Experience," from June 29-30, will provide hands-on experiences with art techniques.
-"Glaciers: Rulers of the Ice Age," from June 29-30, will be a guided field trip to Little Cottonwood Canyon to observe the effects of glaciers on the landscape.
