BYU RECRUITS TOP WRESTLERS

National prep wresting champion Brian Van Tassell, Vernal, has signed a letter of intent to enroll at Brigham Young University next fall, according to BYU Coach Alan Albright.

Van Tassell is a three-time Utah state champion who won the 126-pound weight class at the 1990 National High School Tournament. He will be joining his cousin, Don Van Tassell, Rupert, Idaho, on the BYU squad. Don Van Tassell is a two-time Idaho state champion who finished second at 134 pounds in this year's national prep tournament.BYU's other signees include Robert Ho, Boise, a three-time state champion who placed third at the 1990 National Junior Olympics in the 118-pound weight class; two-time Utah state prep champ Chad Jacob, Pleasant Grove; California junior college champion David Rumfield; and Wright Noel, who finished fourth in the National Junior College Tournament for Ricks College.
