SWIMMER TO HONOR A NEW `FREE STYLE'

Lynne Cox is going to try to make another swimming political statement Sunday.

Cox, who captured international attention in 1987 when she swam the Bering Strait between Alaska and the Soviet Union, will swim a 10-mile stretch of the Spree River, the same waters where many freedom-seeking East Germans died trying to escape to the West.Cox, 33, of Los Alamitos, Calif., who is making the swim to celebrate the downing of the Berlin Wall, says the trip will take four to five hours.
