Steve Schneiter fired a 4-under-par 67 Sunday to win the Bonneville Bank-Provo Open at East Bay Golf Course.

Schneiter, an assistant pro at Sandy's Pebblebrook Golf Course, finished with a 137 total for a one-shot victory over Mike Malaska. Schneiter earned $1,500 with the victory.BYU golfer Eddie Fryatt won low amateur honors and tied Malaska for second overall with a 68 Sunday for a 138 total.

Former champion Tom Costello was fourth with a 140 total after a final-round 68.

Malaska had a hot round going Sunday with birdies at 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 to go to 7-under. But three bogeys, including a couple on the final two holes, left him just behind Schneiter.

BYU golfer Dean Wilson finished at 141, a stroke better than teammate Eddie Heinen, who tied with pro Bruce Summerhays at 142. Nine golfers, including first-day co-leader Dick Peacock finished in a logjam at 143. Peacock won low senior honors.
