Robert L. Cranmer, former prominent Salt Lake City attorney and former Salt Lake County Commissioner, died June 9, 1990 in San Mateo, Calif., where he resided for the past 24 years.
Born June 8, 1913 in Denver, Colorado, son of William H. H. Cranmer III and Margaret Wood Cranmer. Married Lillian Claire Castleton; later divorced. Married Charlotte Bearss 1962, she preceded him in death.Graduated with a B.A. Degree from Stanford University 1935 and received his degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Colorado in 1940. Mr. Cranmer is a member of Utah State Bar Assn., Colorado Bar Assn. and the American Bar Assn. He served as a member of the Salt Lake County Commissioners as Commissioner of Finance 1946-1950, and was a past president of Salt Lake County Library and Salt Lake County Fair, Inc. Active in the Episcopal Church, he served on the vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and as one of the organizers of All Saints Episcopal Church. A 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, he is a member of Acacia Lodge #17 F.&A.M. Former member of El Kalah Temple of the Shrine. He is a former member of the Alta Club.
Mr. Cranmer is survived by his daughters, Lillian Claire Cranmer, San Mateo, CA; and Catharine Grumich, San Francisco, CA; and two grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services Thursday, June 14, 12 noon, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East First South, Wednesday evening, 7-8 p.m.
