Police have identified the second victim in an apparent murder-suicide as 42-year-old Glenn Tewell.
Tewell was found dead in his apartment at 628 E. Vine St. No. 2 at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday by police who had spent more than seven hours outside the apartment trying to make contact with the man.Police said Tewell was the boyfriend of April Holder, 38, who was found dead in the driveway of her home at 5766 Hillside Drive, about one mile south of Tewell's apartment.
A caller informed police of Holder's death and said Tewell had left her house and returned to his apartment. Police evacuated the immediate neighbors and cordoned off a half-mile radius around Tewell's apartment after getting the call. They then spent the next eight hours trying to contact Tewell before shooting a tear gas canister through the window and then storming the apartment.
Murray Police Chief Ken Killian said Tewell had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head that appeared to be self-inflicted. He was found with a .38-caliber handgun and had likely been dead three or four hours before police entered the apartment.
Killian would not say whether the same weapon or type of weapon caused Holder's death, but he characterized the two deaths as a murder-suicide and said Holder had suffered several gunshot wounds to the head.
