DEATH: THORA YOUNG LARSEN

Thora Sophia Petersen Young Larsen, age 96, died June 12, 1990 in Sandy, Utah.

She was born Sept. 22, 1893 in Krogerup, Soro, Denmark to Peter and Krestine Petersen Petersen. On June 25, 1913 she married John Samuel Young in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Sam preceded her in death in 1920. She married John Larsen in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1941. John died in 1948. At the age of 12, Thora immigrated to America in 1905. Thora served as Relief Society president of the Salt Lake 14th Ward and sang in the Mothers Chorus of the Tabernacle. In 1963 she retired as cafeteria manager at the Salt Lake Temple where she enjoyed working and was privileged to serve dinner to the Prophet and Apostles each week.Survivors: Daughter, Mrs. Francis (Afton Y.) Cox, Sacramento, California; Daughter-in-law, Barbara S. Young, Midvale; grandchildren, Kaye Newton, John Cox, both Sacramento, California; Vicki Ann Schafer, Butler, Pennsylvania; Barbara Jean Hardman, Midvale; Howard Samuel Young, El Paso, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-granchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Jay Samuel Young.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 1990, at 10 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Friday, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
